Each year, over two million wildebeests, accompanied by zebras and antelopes, embark on a treacherous 450-mile journey across the Serengeti plains, driven by the need for fresh grazing lands and water. Day by Day Itinerary.
Day 1 - Arrival
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) for domestic flights, a representative from Genau Adventure Safaris will greet you. They will take you to your accommodation in Arusha, where you’ll spend the night at the charming Mount Meru.

Day 2-Serengeti National Park (North)
After breakfast, transfer to Arusha airstrip for your flight to Serengeti North, departing at 7 AM and arriving by 10 AM. Enjoy a thrilling game drive, witnessing the breathtaking migration of over 1.5 million wildebeests and zebras, as they traverse crocodile-infested waters in their relentless pursuit of survival.

Day 3&4-Serengeti North (Kogatende)
After breakfast, we head to Serengeti North for an exhilarating game drive to witness the spectacular great migration. Starting in August, river crossings at Kogatende occur as the mega herds settle in. From August to October, game viewing reaches its peak, with river crossings almost guaranteed daily. The herds move back and forth across the river, following the rains and the emergence of fresh grasses.

Late in the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Acacia Migration Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5,6,&7 - Serengeti National Park (Central Seronera)
After breakfast at the camp, we embark on a drive to Serengeti Central, Tanzania’s oldest and most renowned national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Serengeti is famous for its annual migration, where six million hooves pound the open plains as over 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles join the wildebeests in their quest for fresh grazing.

After breakfast, we’ll embark on an early morning game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is a vast highland region along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the iconic Ngorongoro Crater at its heart.

Today, we’ll head to Tarangire National Park for a full day of thrilling game drives. Nestled slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire offers a serene escape in Northern Tanzania, renowned for its impressive elephant migration and vibrant birding opportunities. Experience the park’s tranquil atmosphere as you witness the incredible wildlife and stunning landscapes that make Tarangire a hidden gem in the heart of Tanzania. Day 10 - Back to Arusha
On your final day with us, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we drop you off at the airport for your departure. Reflect on the incredible adventures and breathtaking sights you’ve experienced throughout your tour.

The safari provides mid-range accommodations, including tented camps or lodges with private bathrooms, comfortable beds, and dining areas.
You can expect to see the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos) as well as zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, cheetahs, hippos, flamingos, and a variety of birds.
The best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October. However, the safari is available year-round, with excellent wildlife viewing during migration seasons.
Children are welcome on the safari, but some lodges may have minimum age restrictions for safety. Families with young children should confirm in advance with the operator.
Essentials include:
- Lightweight, neutral-colored clothing
- A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
- A good pair of walking shoes
- Binoculars, camera, and extra batteries
- A warm jacket for cooler mornings and evenings
The safari uses 4x4 vehicles with pop-up roofs for better wildlife viewing. The vehicles are spacious, comfortable, and equipped with a radio for communication.
It’s recommended to have vaccinations for yellow fever and be on malaria prophylaxis. Visitors should also carry insect repellent and consult their doctor before the trip.
Game drives typically last between 4 to 6 hours, with breaks for meals and relaxation at the lodges. Morning and evening drives are ideal for wildlife viewing when animals are most active.
